Safety training should be fun and effective, as well as meeting and exceeding OSHA requirements. Safety training programs are generally offered in either a classroom environment or through distance learning. The company you choose to use for your company's safety training should offer a wide range of topics relating to everything your workforce needs to know.

In business, industry, and government workplace safety training programs are based on three principles: Regulatory Compliance, Monetary Savings, or Ethics. The safety training programs based on regulatory compliance are concerned about avoiding fines and citations, with decisions about safety based on existing safety regulations. Those based on monetary savings are worried about reducing the costs of employee illness, injury, and death. The programs on ethics are concerned with whatever it takes to make the workplace safe. There are many safety training videos and safety training dvds that address each topic from these differing points of view.

Management ultimately makes the final decision about what safety products are needed within the company and how best to go about implementing them. Depending on the environment at the job, some safety training approaches may be more suitable than others. The important thing is to find the resource that functions best in your company and gives back the most return for your investment. Some approaches may fail or not be as effective as you had initially planned. In that case, remember that it is also a learning process and having tried something and then making the realization that it might not be in the best interest of the company, or if you think something else would work better, is still worth much more than not having done much to begin with. No one gets everything right the first time. Some safety programs might work better for , say fire safety, than for laboratory safety. It is up to management to determine what combinations of safety programs will best serve the workplace.
